Wine Walk & Shop

Saturday, September 26, 2009 — 1 to 5 pm

Wine TastingWine lovers! Music enthusiasts! Shoppers extraordinaire! Join us for the Rhythms on the Lake Wine Walk & Shop and stroll through the heart of Historic Downtown Chelan to sip fine local wines, listen to music and enjoy shopping while celebrating all that Chelan has to offer. This is a unique wine tasting and social gathering experience. Get to know the eclectic mix of locally owned businesses in the area while discovering great tasting wines.

You will notice as you walk, you'll also pass many of Chelan's finest restaurants and stores. Do yourself a favor, and stop in during or after your walk for a thoroughly enjoyable shopping experience and delicious meal, whether it be lunch, dinner or a mid-afternoon snack.

Here's How it Works:

Visit any participating downtown Chelan merchant on Wine Walk day to get a map of Wine Walk locations. Go to the participating merchant of your choice with a valid photo ID, to purchase your Wile Walk ticket for $30. You’ll receive a wine glass and 10 tickets that allow you to sample wine at any participating merchant.

Participating Wineries:

Benson Vineyards — This Mediterranean-inspired estate winery overlooks Lake Chelan, one of Washington's newest wine growing regions. The warm, north shore, south facing slope vineyard produces premium-quality Chardonnay, Viognier, Pinot Gris, Gewurztraminer, Syrah, Sangiovese, Merlot, Cabernet Franc, Cabernet Sauvignon, Pinot Noir, Nebbiolo, and Ice Wine.  Offering tastings at Lake Chelan Sports.

Chelan Estate Winery — From the deck of Chelan Estate Vineyards & Winery, you enjoy a stunning view of Lake Chelan. Pack a picnic, because you’ll want to make a leisurely day of it. Your most difficult decision may be whether to uncork the Columbia Valley chardonnay, the merlot, or the estate pinot noir. Chelan Estate’s chardonnay proves amazing thanks to the use of super-sized oak barrels called puncheons. Offering tastings at Bear Foods.

Hard Row to Hoe Vineyards — Their southwest facing vineyard looks out over the lake and the peaks of the North Cascade mountains which provide the clear, glacial water to irrigate our vines. They are a real 'working winery' handcrafting all the wine on the premises, specializing in small batch processing, emphasizing quality over quantity. Passion for grapes and wine is their business. Offering tastings at Culinary Apple.

KarMa Vineyards — Their journey began 6 years ago in the spirit of collaboration and commitment, aligning our business with world class winemakers, top notch vineyard managers and superior customer service professionals. Come sit on the beautifully landscaped patio...relax by the water features, and let their staff take the best of care in making your Karma experience second to none. Offering tastings at Main Street Gallery.

Lake Chelan Winery — Lake Chelan Winery was the first of its kind in the Lake Chelan area. Since 2001, Lake Chelan Winery has been serving premium wines from its Chelan-Manson Highway location. Its tasting room is located in what was the last privately owned apple-packing operation in Chelan. This might surprise you when you visit the 3,000-square-foot tasting room with its generously sized gift shop. The transformation from packing shed to tasting room is nothing short of spectacular. Offering tastings at Lulu Boutique.

Nefarious Cellars — A recently completed red-and-gray dwelling houses both the wine production facility and the living quarters for Dean, Heather, and their new addition to the family and future cellar rat, son George. The walkway leads to a generous door that opens to a spacious tasting room. The tasting room takes advantage of a spectacular view of Lake Chelan and the surrounding hills. Outside the tasting room is a large patio, complete with Adirondack-style deck furniture—a perfect setting in which to uncork a bottle of Nefarious and take in the view. The view itself is clearly among the top 10 in Washington. Whether you are a red fan or a white fan, you’ll find a swirl and taste of the Neffs’ wine a wickedly good experience. It’s simply Nefarious. Offering tastings at Columbia Furniture.

Rio Vista Wines — Rio Visa Wines is a small, out-of-the-way, family-owned winery with estate vineyards and lovely landscaped grounds. You're sure to enjoy a tour of the riverside vineyards, the park-like country setting, a walk on the sandy beach, a visit with the Peas, Ducks, and Chickens, or simply sip the fantastic reds and whites on the covered deck of the tasting room while lingering in the golden glow of the river. Offering tastings at Willow.

Tildio Winery — The vineyard property was purchased in 2000 with plans for a vineyard and winery. Besides the view of Roses Lake, Slide Ridge, and the North Cascades Wilderness, the property has some very practical aspects that are great for grapes. It is gently sloped from top to bottom for cold air drainage in the winter, not too high at 1,100 feet of elevation, has sandy loam soil that is well drained and is southwest facing - four great elements for a vineyard.   Tildio is hands-on in every way. Growing grapes and making wine is a passion for them and they value being involved in every step. By doing the work themselves they control everything from growing the grapes to putting the finished wine in the bottle. Offering tastings at Bear Foods.

Tsillan Cellars Winery & Vineyards — The crown jewel of the youthful, vibrant and rapidly growing Lake Chelan wine tourism scene. Tsillan Cellars, an Italian country retreat recreated on the gently sloping shores of deep water Lake Chelan offers a destination experience unique in the entire country. Offering tastings at Company 107.

Tunnel Hill Winery — On the shores of Lake Chelan, in a cool, quiet cellar under the hillside, we create handcrafted wines using age-old techniques. Made with the same patience and care as our landmark granite winery, Tunnel Hill wines speak of the craftsmanship of another time, when attention to detail mattered, and small artisans flourished. Offering tastings at Company 107.

Vin du Lac — The Vin du Lac winery sits on a hilltop rising 200 feet above Lake Chelan, with superb views of the lake, Chelan Butte, and the town of Chelan.  The grounds have been orchard land since the 1920's, and one half of the property remains working orchard.  Seven acres of vineyard were planted in the spring of 2002.

The winery itself is housed in two old orchard sheds that were fully remodeled and updated to serve as modern winery production facilities.  Remnants of the buildings' former character remain, including the hand-laid stone foundation of the barrel room, which bears the inscription "Sept. 1937". Offering tastings at Willow.

Wapato Point Cellars — Wapato Point Cellars’ wine includes a full slate of red and whites, many of which having won awards. Several vintages are created from grapes grown in the family’s own Cougar Ridge Vineyard. Located in the heart of Wapato Point Resort, the winery is family friendly and there’s plenty of space for picnicking and tossing a Frisbee. Even the menu at the Winemaker’s Grill is kid friendly, with menu items geared to appeal to young taste buds. Offering tastings at Lulu Boutique.
