Jesse James Russell Saturday, September 26th — Wine Walk & Shop — 2 PM
At 14 years old, Jesse James has the Blues. He says, “Playing the blues lets me express my thoughts and feelings.” Sometimes fast and twangy, sometimes slow and mellow, his guitar and voice intricately weave together.
When he got his first guitar at 8 years old, Jesse James began teaching himself. He writes his own music and lyrics, and credits BB King, Eric Clapton, Muddy Waters, and Stevie Ray Vaughn as some of his early influences.
For the last 5 years, he has been performing solo and has also accompanied other musicians at Blues Festivals around the northwest. Recently Jesse James formed his own band of local students, and is a member of the school band and Jazz Band.
Although the blues and his guitar are his first love, he doesn’t limit himself. He listens to a wide variety music like classic rock, jazz, and pop, and plays other instruments, including: bass (electric and stand-up), drums, keyboards, harmonica, trombone, clarinet and alto saxophone.
Jesse James may sing the blues, but you’ll see that music is in his soul. |
